Solaire was formed in 2005 by Noel Price. Noel is an Auckland based furniture designer with over 22 years experience gained both in the UK and in New Zealand. Following the completion of a 4 year honours degree in Three Dimensional Design at Nottingham University in the UK, Noel worked as a designer for several companies within the Christie Tyler Group, at the time the largest manufacturer of furniture in Europe.
Following his immigration to New Zealand, he has spent the last ten years working in the Australasian market.
During his career he has travelled extensively throughout Europe, America, Asia and Australia, working closely with both furniture manufacturers and textile weavers. His involvement with a number of textile mills has given him a clear understanding of fabrics and how they can be used in the construction of upholstered furniture. Following a meeting with an overseas mill where a new range of lightfast fabrics were presented, he identified a unique opportunity to combine these significant design developments and new foam technologies to bring a new level of style and comfort to outdoor furniture.
